Hi Bruce! Thanks a million for getting back to me so promptly!
I have done as you suggested, and created a github account (user KRHenninger). There, the repository is "FMD-codes-from-T.-Neff-" (there is only one repository..:-)). I feel kind of awkward uploading Thomas' codes, but I have to!
As far as the name for the application goes, shall we say "FMD"?
To answer the questions re. runtime, at least in part. There are precompiled executables in the repository, which are precompiled once-and-for-all (we tend to run into trouble trying to recompile them, so unless I absolutely have to for some reason, let's not!). The input is my ".fmd" and ".int" files, which I have on my university machine right now, and the output will be the same files, after the parameters have been changed via the minimisation process the codes (e.g. "minenergy") in the repository will do.
The dependencies of the application are: the BLAS libraries, (libblas.so.3), libgfortran.so.3, and some additional graphics programs which I am by now adept at installing (idl and gv). As and when we need to worry about those, I can hopefully help!
Thanks so much! Let me know if there is anything I've forgotten.
